Basic days and refurbished Clothes

#uberfact I have had this skirt for four years. Lol, I used it for a seminar back when I was in 300 level, it wasn't really my size at the time but I managed to keep ur till now. I was having a super basic moment today as far as I am concerned. I wanted something simple, with no extra perks that we like to use to be identified as fashion bloggers, you know what I mean... Those one or two peices that are supposed to spark up your creative side. The whole point of this post is that because a dress is old doesn't mean it's outdated and thus should be thrown away. Au contraire!! Don't let your dresses die in your wardrobes.. Zinkata (zinkata.com) always inspires me to wear my old seemingly obsolete clothes with a            Touch of modern. That wrapper, that skirt, that Ankara gown, can be refashioned into something totally new and unique. I didn't exactly do much with mine today but will throw on some with time for inspiration purposes. Stay fab

On my outfit. I paired a crochet lace blouse with my sweet old pencil skirt and my very popular white shoes. My beret is soul orange vintage for that touch of soul. I would love to restyle this skirt in a different way sometime soon... I need inspiration though. Lol.

Dare to be different?

Androgyny is the fleek right now. I always love to rummage in my brothers closets and try on their clothes. I never had a sister to play dress up with so it's no surprise I grew up with a little rough on the edges tom boy streak. Coco Chanel from what I gathered was one of the First Ladies to delve into the androgynous world of fashion. Defying all odds in a world that was all corsets and roses at the time, she'll wear her pants and ride horses, loose fitting clothes when everyone was cinching in waists, point is that she dared to be different, in a world where women didn't really work, and where fashion was all boobs and tulle. Yes I watched coco before Chanel. Lol
I love fashion, it lets you express yourself on a different level, more than words. To be honest, I was to attend a wedding and I had absolutely nothing to wear. Those who know me know that Ankara and I don't really get along. So any short notice weddings are usually an pain in the butt for me. Luckily my brothers were home this xmas and my twin has this annoying love for kaftans and natives. When he wore this to church that Sunday, I knew I had to have it. Does anyone get that feeling of being distinguished, fresh and fleek when they see a guy in a well tailored two peice like this. I needed to have me a taste of that. And obviously I am not the only one who's basking in the gorgeousness of this androgynous trend, fashion blogger zinkata (@zinkata1 on Instagram) and dear friend of mine Tope Mautin (@iammautin also on Instagram) joined in the fun.
Let your hair down, Donne your heels, and rock menswear today! Thank me later

Have a fab week guys! Keep it classy
I am taking some classes so pardon me for the late posts

Vintage pieces- Timeless fashion that lives through time

I am a retro girl, and I learned to rock vintage in my 300lvl in the university. I schooled close to onitsha so my dear as soon as I discovered the vintage stores and how affordable and beautiful some of their peices could be, I was sold! And that was when I discovered style!   I started to train myself to wear unusual pieces but to let my body and my carriage bring the appeal. It worked. Though now I am gainfully unemployed and seeking to find employment in a place that could make my dreams, I can't always wear vintage, there has to be a balance... You have to dress according to the occassion, and if vintage suits that, fantastic then but if not.... Don't try. This is why I shop at different places. Honestly I no longer go out of my way to buy things, vintage or otherwise, I just pick up peices I see randomly, vintage or otherwise.. But I'll tell you this, fashion is what you wear, style is how you wear it, if you see a dress that you think describes your sense of style, and it's vintage... Go for it! There are people who wish they could pull it off like you do.  And As we all know, nothing haunts us like the things we don't buy.
Vintage chic? You decide

Sorry for the orangey hue, I took the pictures with my ipad.
On my outfit,... My skirt is from soul orange vintage ... And the rest are nameless. The blouse is actually a dress I decided to rerock differently to church. I love this skirt... It made me twirl and twirl and I couldn't just get it to blow out! Lol

Complements of the season

Trend alert: high topped gladiator sandals

Yup, these are the rave right now. I didn't like it at first but the fashion aficionado community is turning me the other way. It's a bit too loud for my style. I know I know, turndown for what... But my people, i haven't seen the one that makes a statement I actually intend to send out. Thankfully, there are different types of these shoes to suit different personal styles. For the less daring, like yours truly of course, you could wear those of them cut a little lower. They are less daunting and more flexible. Here are a few pictures I picked out to show how different people have interpreted this trend. Then you decide if it's your thing, which is more your style, and how you'll like to rock yours

Soraya de carvalo @styleismything makes you want to buy these right away...

Like I said, if you just like the concept of gladiators, you can go for something cut lower and more conservative like these.

Am digging the flats though, are you?

Make up your mind.. Would you rock or nah? I think they are on fleek though lol

Orange soul by soul orange vintage

P
Hi guys, so I told y'all I did a shoot for soul orange vintage lookbook debut . It was fantastic fun. Soul orange vintage is a clothing brand that sells strictly exclusive vintage clothes. They have been around for a while now and growing everyday. It's headed by chinedu obaino who I went to school with back in the day. She's a creative soul. Her sense of style is quirky eclectic and she's a fantastic person to work with. She styled all the looks, and pulled off a fantastic shoot. All the dresses are for sale at really affordable prices. I got a lot of her outfits and one word to describe them is "versatile". I like that I can do whatever I want with them and still look chic. My favorite look is the cropped blouse and the kimono styled blouses. Yup I know.... Me and kimono's. But hey I always love to have something that disguises my outfit and makes it look like something new!

In this shoot you'd notice a lot of head wraps, turbans and berets, this gives a more retro appeal to the look. In fact, if you want to pull off a very cool vintage look, just add a head wrap or a turban styled scarf. And viola!

Harem pants.. How to rock

There are so many awesome street style outfits with harem pants that you can recreate this fall! The trend has really spiked in popularity and there are so many ways that you can dress it up or down. Whether you're pairing it with a tailored leather jacket, bulky sweater, or a denim top, you can make the look unique and true to your style. Don't shy away from them just because you think you can't "pull it off"! After all, you can't knock it till you try it! Here are some street style outfits with harem pants to recreate:

1. CASUAL

If you like to lounge around in casual pieces - and who doesn't? - then you can totally recreate this look. Just pair some basic black harem pants (like these from hm.com) with a loose tee like this draped tunic from urbanoutfitters.com. For shoes, some flats will give you a classic touch. This is just one of many street style outfits with harem pants that you can recreate!

2. PRINTED

Prints are always a good idea! They're very expressive and can take any outfit to the next level. Even though it's now fall, you can still keep things tropical with these adorable tropical print pants from us.asos.com. I would pair them with a crop top and finish the look off with a jacket or cardigan. Which kind of print would YOU like?

3. HIGH-WAISTED

Make harem pants the focal point of your outfit by wearing them high-waisted. Adding a belt is a cute touch that will really help draw attention to your outfit! I'm obsessed with these Abstract Windowpane printed pants from forever21.com! You can pair them with a white tank or crop top, a white belt, and some cute ankle boots. It's a perfect fall outfit for running errands or going out to dinner with your girlfriends!

4. OVERSIZED

Harem pants are known for their bagginess. If you really want to make a fashion statement, pair the oversized pants with an oversized sweater and bulky scarf. It'll definitely add some dimension to your outfit and if you wear it with confidence, you'll always look great.

5. BUSINESS CHIC

Who knew harem pants could be so versatile? You can dress them up and make them office-appropriate for work! Try these pleated knit pants fromforever21.com - the neutral color will instantly add a sophisticated vibe to your look. Add a skinny belt on your waist, tuck in a white blouse, and throw on a blazer! Ta-da, totally business chic.

6. BOHO CHIC

Floppy hats are definitely an item from your summer wardrobe that you should be transitioning into your fall wardrobe! Take the printed look from #2 and add bohemian accessories like a long necklace, bangles, and a hat!

7. PAIR IT WITH DENIM

I would've never thought of pairing harem pants with a denim top but it works so perfectly! It just goes to prove that denim really does look good with anything and everything. Keep the outfit "sleek and polished" by pairing your denim shirt with white harem pants (like these from us.asos.com)! You can add a pop of color to your look with a bold cross body and some flats or heels!

Well, there you have it. These are just seven out of many awesome street style outfits with harem pants to recreate! I'm a big fan of this trend because you can really make it your own. Of the list, which look is your favorite? Which outfit would you recreate?

New beginnings ; Do we really forget?

It's new year guys! Felicitations!!!!

So today's post, was something I thought up in line with new beginnings. Do we ever really forget. So In my sojourn through life I have realized that when tempers burn and anger rages we tend to bring up our passed misdeeds, even those from way far back and as I listen to accusation upon accusation, reproach upon reproach I ask myself, do we really forget! When we are hurt or wronged, and when we make peace, is it any use to bring up past hurts that are supposed to have been over and done with. I am guilty of this too sometimes but when I see my mistakes through other people and note how irritated about the fact that some people just don't let things go, I work harder and harder to let things go myself. I want to go into the new year with a new outlook. One that sees a present situation for what it is 'present' and not have to dredge up what other unfortunate shenanigans the person might have committed.
Is it really that easy though? To truly truly forget? I think not.. I have be honest it isn't. But I strive everyday to be perfect like my Heavenly Father and if I have to write it down somewhere to remind myself daily then so be it. I refuse to recount the hurtful indiscretions of my friends whom I have forgiven. If the problem persists then it's time to cut off.

As we enter the year 2015, I encourage us all to truly forgive and forget! To live, laugh and love and to not make the same mistakes over and over again. If someone keeps hurting you. Don't dig up old memories. Forgive and move on.

I wish you all so much love and peace that 2015 brings. Unfortunately it brings with it the dreadful elections but we shall overcome.
Look forward with optimism and hope. I see a bright future.. Do you?

My outfit is a comfy girl about town ensemble. Those sandals were stolen from my mom. I wanted something comfortable, and they are blocked heels so I can wear them for hours. My main peice is a kimono styled button down tunic from soul orange vintage.  And my classic high waist jeans. Noticed I have a lot of red in my wardrobe?  Lol...

Keep it classy!
