Trend alerts ;ponchos capes and kimonos pt 1

Hello guys, did anyone notice the capes ponchos and kimono trends lately? Today's post will be focused on ponchos...
I saw this trend coming at the New York fashion week this past month and I didn't think it would make it quite this fast.. Unfortunately ponchos are usually known to be worn in really cold countries and areas, but it's a trend I'd like to rock but In a lighter material, it comes in gowns, and tops and some are even cropped... Talk about the new a and modernized ponchos..

Here are a few ways I will rock the trend
Go chic or go home; when buying a poncho or poncho styled blouse try not to let the fabric overwhelm you by making you look boxy and out of place, choose a not too thick fabric (obviously lagos is hot biko) get one that suits your body shape and you can add a pair of heels and could be worn with jeans or leggings. Even a pair of sneakers could give a little edge. But remember, style is relative, so wear it as you would feel comfortable

* flowy or tasseled ponchos; now these are sometimes longer and can be worn to the beach as a dress, to the pool and just breezy outings like the upcoming Copa lagos beach soccer event. They have an effortless feel to them and you can wear your bikini underneath without looking or feeling tacky.

Lastly
The silk poncho inspired blouses are a chic alternative to button up chiffon blouses (I'd love to give them a break) though they aren't made to hug your figure, but when you wear them, you tend to square your shoulders and walk with a hop in your step, making you look and feel confident and sexy *wink*

What do you think of the trend though? Is it worth trying? Is this the first time you are hearing or seeing this ? Or should we just leave it to the oyinbos.. Hehe

Have a fab weekend, and remember to always "keep it classy"

TURN DOWN FOR WHAT?

Turn down for what? That song, meaningless as it may seem always had a place in my heart, and I knew I was going to use it as a slogan and I just didn't know when until i started working with stylist ifeoma odogwu.  When we went for shoots and events I always came in well dressed and sometimes in heels, and when I am asked why I am all dressed up, I reply 'turn down for what' fashion should have no place or time, to be dressed up or down is up to you. But remember that some have clothes but no where to go to and no events to attend, thus always dress appropriately for your outings and when you're asked why you look so good.. flip your weave and say turn down for what!!
As for my outfit today, I am wearing my brothers pants, yesss his kaftan pants.. who knew they could look this good, If I had worn flat shoes the point would have been missed because I always try to keep it chic, thus flats would have ruined the whole outfit.
Tips for trying out this look;
* remember that tailors always leave a pee hole in guys pants so make sure you secure that area with a pin
* you could rock these pants with a crop top, but the bands of their pants weren't made to be tucked in or exposed(obviously) so if you have it tucked in, remember to pull out your blouse loosely at the edge to camouflage the band
* lastly if you are going for tomboy chic then you could as well wear a pair of sneakers and an oversize tee, try to tuck in one side of the tee to give it a little fitting

when in doubt, raid your brothers room, you never know what could pop up.

 I stopped by zizi cardow's show room today and got a sneak peak of her fab pieces, they left me envious as hell plus my friend refused to let me be so I let her photo bomb my picture.. what are friends for anyway.

have  a fab day guys, and remember..... keep it classy
